Of all of the wonderful books in the Holy Bible, the letter Paul wrote to the Christians at Rome stands out as one of the most profound books of the New Testament, and has an astonishing effect on people who are truly seeking to know the Lord Jesus. It has been said to be the most complete diagnosis of the plague that threatens man, his sin, and the most glorious setting forth of the simple solution of justification by faith, apart from the works of the law.
The influence of this amazing book has had a profound impact on Christianity and has been called, "The most significant theological letter ever written," - St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430). It was from the truths of this letter that Martin Luther launched the Protestant Reformation. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, was converted on May 24, 1738, upon reading Luther's introduction to Romans. And, while in prison John Bunyan saw and understood these truths which convicted him and gave us his transformed life and his clear insight into the Pilgrim's Progress. Bunyan's great Christian epic describes man's being displaced from his natural home, by sin, and sent on his way to a far country which is not of this planet, either in its roots or in its ideals, i.e., following the Savior.
Please come and join us. As we trace through this study and discover the profound truth and lessons that have been leading men to Christ since Paul penned the letter in about 58AD.
We are currently going through one of the Life Change Series of studies entitled A life-changing encounter with God's Word from the book of Proverbs. This NavPress study emphasizes personal discovery of God's Word, ways to apply the scriptures to your daily life, historical insights, stimulating dicussion questions and challenging optional projects.
We are beginning a study of Paul's First Epistle to the Corinthians. This is a book often avoided in many churches because of the strong content. Perhaps it is because we tend not to want to see ourselves as we often truly are. Churches are bodies composed of flawed (in the human sense) individuals. As such our humanity often leads to difficulties. Strong churches are not churches that have no difficulties, strong churches are churches that have learned to effectively deal with these matters in biblical ways. In our study we will examine the historical and spiritual relevance of the book. We will also be seeking ensight into how we can recognize divisions and overcome them both from an individual and corporate perspective.
The Ladies will begin meeting again Nov 3, 2011. We will begin working through a book study entitled When I Lay My Isaac Down by Carol Kent. The book is Carol's Testimony of God's grace and power through an unspeakable circumstance. The Study will be taught by Cindy Hood and Penny Maris. Come join us for a warm, sweet time together with women who love the Lord and His ways and who know first hand the power of His love.
David is an amazing man of God doing a great work in the heartland of the early Church. Though the epicenter of Paul's mission journeys and home to so many of the churches found in the New Testament, Ephesus and modern day Turkey are largely unreached with the gospel. David's mission is to encourage others who wish to come for short periods and discover what it would have been like to be Paul and to take the gospel to a nation where there are only as many as 2500 professing Christians. If you believe God would lead you in this venture you may obtain information from the flyer below.
If you would like to pray for David and his ministry pray especially that God will send laborers into this much needed field and that the harvest of souls that continue to be reached will reenergize the ancient churches. Rick and his wife Dovie are street evangelists with Open Air Campaigners who serve to reach children (and others) in ways that speak to them. From 2007 to 2009 this devoted couple worked day after day on the streets of Boston, Massachusetts sharing the gospel and the word of faith. In October, 2009 God led Rick and Dovie to the state of Texas where they are now working to establish a permanent ministry outreach of Open Air Campaigners right here. Just this January Rick and Dovie assited our church in training and conducting a "Back Yard Bible Study" within one of our local communities. It was a tremendous blessing and great success. Below are pictures of Open Air Campaigners at work.
If you would like to pray for Rick and Dovie please pray that God will bless the seed that they continue to sow (now here in Texas) and that they will find other laborers to help this great ministry continue to grow. You can find David through the website link listed here: www.oacusa.org/staff-moore.php
Victor and Carole are missionaries preparing this summer to go to the nation of Cambodia. This nation is one of 29 countries around the world which has a Christian population that is less than 1% of the total population. Victor and Carole have lovingly devoted themselves to work together through World Team, a non-denominational mission agency with 350+ members in 28 countries reaching 59 distinct peoples. The nation of Cambodia is a country with a very difficult history.
If you would like to pray for the Hartsfields please pray that God will prepare the way for them both financially and spiritually. Pray that He will open the hearts of the people for the receiving of the gospel and that He will continually protect them in the work that He is leading them to do.
